    Apple Updates App Store Review and Subscription Rules

    Apple has updated its latest App Store Review Guidelines. Under the new rules, Apple may in the future remove certain mature-category apps from the App Store if they have not been updated, improved, or are no longer capable of attracting users over an extended period. The revised guidelines expand the previous rejection criteria that targeted saturated categories such as “fart,” “burp,” “flashlight,” “fortune-telling,” and “dating” apps, broadening them to restrict developers from “opportunistically creating variants of existing app categories or popular apps.” Apple now explicitly mentions wallpaper apps, simple timer apps, and sound-effect apps, requiring new submissions in these categories to provide “differentiated improvements” in order to pass review. Apple has also classified apps centered around drinking, farting, burping, and similar themes as low-quality, low-effort applications, warning that developers who repeatedly submit such apps may lose access to the Apple Developer Program. However, the existing App Store Improvements process will continue to notify developers when apps become outdated or receive little to no downloads, giving them an opportunity to improve their apps before removal.     In addition, during WWDC 2026, Apple announced an expansion of the App Store’s App Bundles feature, allowing developers with overlapping user bases but without direct competitive relationships to jointly offer cross-app subscription bundles for the first time. Users can gain access to multiple apps at a lower price than subscribing to each app individually. Source


    Anthropic Unveils Claude Fable 5

    On June 9, Anthropic publicly launched Claude Fable 5, the first publicly available version of its Mythos model. The model is open for software engineering, knowledge work, and visual tasks, but includes hard safety restrictions in high-risk areas such as cybersecurity, biology, chemistry, and model distillation. Requests involving these domains will be blocked and automatically fall back to Claude Opus 4.8. Anthropic also stated that all traffic associated with Fable 5 and Mythos 5 will be retained for 30 days. According to the company, this data will not be used for training purposes and will only be used to defend against jailbreak attacks and reduce false positives.

    Mythos was initially released to a small group of partners as a preview in April before being expanded to hundreds of organizations across 15 countries, with a particular focus on critical infrastructure operators. Fable 5 is now available through the Claude API and Enterprise subscription plans, while Anthropic is simultaneously deploying Mythos 5 to organizations already approved for access to advanced models. Early evaluations indicate that Fable outperforms competing models in tasks such as complex long-horizon analysis benchmarks, generating complete applications in a single pass, tool usage, UI design, and game development. Both Fable 5 and Mythos 5 are priced at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens, twice the cost of Opus 4.8. Users of the Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise subscription plans can access the models at no additional charge until June 22. Starting June 23, the models will be removed from those subscriptions and will instead consume usage credits. Source


    Xiaomi Releases MiMo V2.5-Pro-UltraSpeed

    On June 9, Xiaomi MiMo announced a joint release with TileRT of the UltraSpeed mode for Xiaomi MiMo-V2.5-Pro. Through co-design between the model and the system, the mode achieves a generation speed of 1,000 tokens per second for trillion-parameter models on general-purpose GPUs. The MiMo-V2.5-Pro-UltraSpeed API has also been launched simultaneously. Pricing is three times that of MiMo-V2.5-Pro, while output speed is approximately ten times faster. However, the service is available exclusively through the API and is not included in the Token Plan. The trial period runs from June 9, 2026, through 23:59 on June 23, 2026. Source


    Marshall Launches the Stockwell III

    On June 9, Marshall introduced the Stockwell III portable Bluetooth speaker. Compared with the Stockwell II, battery life has increased from 20 hours to more than 40 hours, while the unit weighs less than 3 pounds (approximately 1.36 kg). It features IP55 dust and water resistance and incorporates Marshall’s proprietary True Stereophonic technology, delivering 360-degree audio regardless of placement position. A built-in dynamic loudness algorithm balances bass, midrange, and treble across different volume levels, while enhancing bass and treble performance at lower volumes. The design continues Marshall’s signature guitar-amp-inspired aesthetic, featuring a PU leather carrying strap, velvet lining, and a brass control panel that allows users to skip tracks, switch presets, and adjust volume. Modular and user-replaceable components include the carrying strap, battery, front and rear grilles, and silicone sleeve.     Razer Introduces Its First XLR Microphone

    On June 9, Razer unveiled the Seiren V3 Pro microphone, its first streaming and podcasting microphone with XLR support, priced at $249.99.

    Compared with the Seiren V3 Chroma, the Seiren V3 Pro primarily adds an XLR analog interface while also offering dual USB-C connectivity. Creators can use it as a plug-and-play USB microphone or connect it to an audio interface or mixer via XLR. In USB-C mode, it supports onboard DSP (digital signal processing), including AI noise reduction, a compressor, limiter, and expander. The microphone also features an integrated shock-mount structure and built-in pop filter. On the hardware side, the Seiren V3 Pro adopts a unified enclosure design and includes a gain knob, mute button, and an adjustable shock-absorbing boom-arm mount. It is equipped with a 30mm cardioid capsule and offers a frequency response range of 50Hz to 16kHz.     Dell Launches the Dell Pro Micro E Mini PC

    On June 9, Dell listed a new Dell Pro Micro E mini PC on JD.com. The system is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 150 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, priced at RMB 4,279. The device features a compact 1.2L chassis.     Beelink ME Pro 13500H Goes on Sale

    On June 8, Beelink announced the launch of the ME Pro NAS-oriented mini PC powered by an Intel Core i5-13500H processor. The barebones version (without storage) is priced at RMB 2,569.     • Meta has removed code related to NameTag, an unreleased facial recognition system, from the latest version of the Meta AI app. Earlier, WIRED reported that the system had already been embedded in the Meta AI app, which is installed on more than 50 million devices. Designed for Meta smart glasses, NameTag was originally intended to convert faces captured by the glasses into unique biometric signatures known as faceprints and compare them against a facial database stored locally on a user’s device.     Microsoft Build 2026 Roundup

    On June 2, Microsoft unveiled a range of new AI models and developer tools at Build 2026, including its in-house reasoning model MAI-Thinking-1, featuring 35 billion active parameters and a 256K context window; the MAI-Image-2.5 family with text-to-image and image-to-image generation capabilities, including a flash variant; the MAI Transcribe 1.5 audio model supporting 43 languages; MAI-Voice-2 and its flash variant; and MAI-Code-1, designed for GitHub. Microsoft also introduced Web IQ, an AI-powered web search technology, the Microsoft Scout personal work agent, and the open-source security evaluation project ASSERT alongside the Agent Control Specification.

    On the hardware and systems side, Microsoft announced the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, designed specifically for local AI model fine-tuning. Powered by NVIDIA’s RTX Spark chip, it delivers 1 petaflop of AI performance and 128GB of unified memory, enabling local execution of models with up to 120 billion active parameters. The system also incorporates a new sandboxing environment called Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) for secure isolation. The device will launch later in 2026 through Microsoft’s online store in the United States.     Sony State of Play June 2026 Roundup

    On June 2, 2026, Sony Interactive Entertainment hosted a new State of Play livestream presentation, showcasing more than 60 minutes of game announcements and updates.

    On the hardware and first-party exclusive front, Santa Monica Studio revealed a new entry in the God of War franchise titled God of War Laufey. Insomniac Games confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch on September 15 and showcased new gameplay footage, while Firesprite Games announced that Until Dawn 2 is scheduled for release in 2027.     During the same event, S-Game founder and producer Liang Qiwei announced that the action title Phantom Blade Zero has been delayed from its previously planned September 9, 2026 release date to October 29, 2026. He also confirmed that pre-orders will begin this summer. The delay is intended to provide an additional 50 days for upgrading a number of character models and rebuilding selected environments, allowing the game to present more visually expansive and distinctive levels while maintaining a unified “Wuxia-Punk” aesthetic. The team also aims to preserve most of the visual fidelity of these upgrades without relying on ray tracing technology. In addition, two new videos will be released this summer, including a new gameplay trailer launching alongside pre-orders and a subsequent 15-to-20-minute deep dive presented during a dedicated Sony State of Play event, covering the game’s world-building, combat, exploration, and progression systems.     Trump Signs Executive Order on AI Regulation

    On June 2, U.S. President Donald Trump formally signed an executive order aimed at introducing pre-release review procedures for powerful AI models. The order requests that certain AI companies voluntarily submit new models to the government for testing or evaluation 30 days before public release. Earlier drafts had proposed a review period of up to 90 days, but this was shortened following objections from industry executives, including David Sacks. The order explicitly states that it must not be interpreted as authorizing any mandatory government licensing, pre-approval, or market-entry system for AI models. It also directs the Department of Justice to prioritize AI-assisted hacking and unauthorized system access as key enforcement areas.

    Due to strong opposition from within the technology industry, the order was ultimately signed privately by Trump and did not include the originally planned closed-door signing ceremony attended by leading Silicon Valley CEOs. Source


    Dashlane Admits to 2FA Brute-Force Attack Incident

    On June 2, password manager provider Dashlane announced that its two-factor authentication (2FA) system had been targeted by a brute-force attack, resulting in approximately 20 users’ password vaults being downloaded by attackers. Dashlane stated that the attackers used automated software to rapidly submit all possible numeric combinations in an attempt to bypass SMS or email verification codes while also trying to register new devices on existing user accounts. Due to the unusually high volume of login attempts generated by the attack, Dashlane’s security systems automatically locked affected accounts, blocked malicious traffic, and notified impacted users. Dashlane emphasized that the downloaded vaults remain encrypted unless attackers also possess the users’ master passwords. Source


    Google Introduces Android Anti-Scam Calling Features and Expanded AirDrop Support

    On June 3, Google announced new anti-deepfake call fraud and impersonation scam detection features for devices running Android 12 and later. The verification system requires both the user and the caller (Editor’s note: ?) to have Phone by Google installed, while the user must also use Google’s Contacts and Messages apps. When the system detects a call that may be spoofing a caller ID through network relays, it sends an authenticated RCS ping through Google Messages to the contact believed to be impersonated. If the recipient confirms that they did not place the call, the system displays a warning notification to the user.

    At the same time, Google announced that the previously Pixel 10- and Galaxy S26-exclusive “Circle to Search” and Find the Look features will be expanded to all devices running Android 14 and later. Google Photos will also gain an AI-powered outfit image generation feature. In addition, Quick Share’s compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop ecosystem will be extended to more devices. Supported models include the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z series, and Galaxy S24 series, as well as the OnePlus 15, Xiaomi 17T Pro, vivo X300 series, and Honor Magic V6, all of which will be able to transfer files directly with AirDrop-enabled devices through Quick Share.     Huawei hosts Pura series and all-scenario product launch event

    On April 20, Huawei held its Pura series and all-scenario product launch event in Guangzhou, unveiling multiple new products including the HUAWEI Pura 90 series.

    The HUAWEI Pura 90 series includes three models: Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro, and Pura 90 Pro Max, all featuring IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance. It is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro processor and supports IP58 and IP59 dust and water resistance.     In wearables, Huawei officially introduced its AI Glasses, weighing 35.5 g with temple arms as thin as 6.25 mm, supporting HDR Vivid. It features a 12 MP ultra-sensitive camera with a 1/2.8-inch sensor and high-transmittance 6P optical lens, along with a powerful audio unit and a triple-microphone noise reduction system enabling clear two-way calls at up to 80 dB.     The HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5 series includes the FIT 5 Pro and FIT 5 models. The FIT 5 Pro comes in Danxia Orange, Glacier White, and Yadan Black, featuring a 1.92-inch AMOLED display with peak brightness of 3000 nits, 2.5D sapphire glass, and a titanium-aluminum alloy body.     The HUAWEI WATCH Buds 2 combines a smartwatch and earbuds in one device. It features a titanium alloy body and a 1.5-inch ultra-narrow bezel flexible display with peak brightness of 3000 nits. The earbuds automatically detect left and right channels, weigh 4 g each, and support wide-area touch controls. The device offers about 3 days of battery life and comes in Amber Brown, Obsidian Black, and Titanium Silver, priced from RMB 3,488.

    The HUAWEI MateBook 14 (HarmonyOS Edition) features a circular keyboard design and an optional 2.8K OLED anti-glare display with P3 wide color gamut. It is powered by the Kirin X90 chip, with a 40W TDP cooling system and Wi-Fi 7 support.     Leica and Gpixel jointly develop next-generation CMOS

    On April 20, Leica and high-performance CMOS image sensor supplier Gpixel announced a new phase of strategic cooperation. The two parties will jointly develop a custom CMOS image sensor chip for Leica’s next-generation cameras, aiming to enhance image quality, dynamic range, color reproduction, and low-light performance.     Apple announces a series of executive changes

    On April 20 (local time), Apple issued a press release announcing that, effective September 1, 2026, Tim Cook—who has served as Apple CEO for 15 years—will transition to Executive Chairman of the Board, focusing on areas such as government relations. Current Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus will become Apple’s new CEO. Arthur Levinson, who has served as non-executive chairman for 15 years, will become Lead Independent Director, while John Ternus will join the board. During Tim Cook’s tenure as CEO, Apple’s market value grew from approximately $350 billion to $4 trillion—an increase of over 1000%—while annual revenue nearly quadrupled, rising from $108 billion in fiscal year 2011 to over $416 billion in fiscal year 2025.     The 11th China University Computer Competition – Mobile Application Innovation Contest opens registration

    On April 20, registration officially opened for the 11th “China University Computer Competition – Mobile Application Innovation Contest,” jointly organized by Apple and Zhejiang University.     On November 19, at the “HarmonyOS Office New Product Tech Briefing,” Huawei unveiled its first HarmonyOS 2-in-1 tablet, the MatePad Edge.     Bambu Lab Releases New H2C 3D Printer

    On November 18, Bambu Lab introduced its new 3D printer, the Bambu H2C. The H2C supports core capabilities such as seven-color single-pass printing, integrated printing of rigid parts and flexible joints, as well as multi-material unified-form printing. It comes equipped with the Vortek hotend-switching system, allowing seamless coordination with Bambu AMS (Automatic Material System), enabling a fully automated material-changing process. The printer can also store material information in the hotend to ensure each hotend is matched with the correct filament. When printing with more than seven filament colors, the system can calculate the optimal mapping combinations to minimize purge waste.

    The product supports eight-second induction heating and adopts a fully enclosed design with an adaptive air-circulation system, along with fully automatic multi-nozzle offset calibration. Inside, it features Bambu’s self-developed PMSM servo extruder motor capable of delivering up to 10 kg of extrusion force. Its proprietary servo extrusion system performs intelligent 20 kHz current and position signal sampling, actively detecting filament abrasion and clogging in real time. It also includes 65°C active chamber heating to suppress model warping and deformation, while enhancing interlayer bonding for high-performance and high-temperature filaments.

    In addition, the H2C is equipped with a 59-sensor array and a four-camera computer-vision system. These work together through Bambu’s proprietary neural algorithms to detect subtle anomalies during printing and provide real-time intelligent diagnostics. The intelligent monitoring system continuously tracks extrusion status, instantly identifying filament buildup, extrusion deviation, and extrusion failures.

    Microsoft to Improve Windows 11 Advanced Recovery Tools

    On November 19, Microsoft announced that it will introduce several new recovery tools and features in Windows 11, aiming to help users restore their computers to a normal working state after catastrophic failures.

    The first feature is Point-in-Time Restore, which allows users to roll back the computer to the exact state of a previous moment. This feature will be enabled by default and automatically captures a snapshot every twenty-four hours. After a crash, users can directly restore via these snapshots in WinRE, with each snapshot retained for seventy-two hours. The second feature is that the WinRE recovery environment will support networking. The improved WinRE will extract network drivers from the main Windows system, initially supporting Ethernet, with WPA 2/3 Wi-Fi support coming later.     Apple Accelerates CEO Succession Planning

    According to the Financial Times, Apple is accelerating its CEO succession plan. Several people familiar with the discussions revealed that Tim Cook may step down as early as next year. John Ternus, the current Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, is widely seen as the most likely successor, though Apple has yet to make a final decision.

    Reports indicate that Apple’s board and senior executives have recently intensified preparations for Cook’s transition. Sources emphasized that this succession planning has been underway for years and is unrelated to Apple’s current performance. Cook, who just turned 65 this month, has led Apple for more than 14 years since taking over from Steve Jobs in 2011. During Cook’s tenure, Apple’s market capitalization has risen from around $350 billion in 2011 to today’s $4 trillion.

    Apple’s executive team has seen several major changes this year, including the departure of Chief Financial Officer Luca Maestri earlier in the year and the announced exit of Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams. Cook has previously stated that he prefers an internal candidate to succeed him. Apple declined to comment on its succession plans.

    “Antitrust Compliance Guidelines for Internet Platforms” released for public comment

    On November 15, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued the Antitrust Compliance Guidelines for Internet Platforms (Draft for Public Comment) and opened it for public feedback. The deadline for submitting opinions is November 29, 2025.

    SAMR stated that in recent years, the platform economy has developed rapidly, with internet platforms exhibiting strong network effects. Enforcement practice shows that antitrust risks in the platform economy are frequent, and businesses have expressed a need for compliance guidance. In response, SAMR drafted the Guidelines. The document refines the Anti-Monopoly Law but is not legally binding, serving instead as general guidance.

    The Guidelines identify four major categories of antitrust risks. Concerning monopoly agreements, it prohibits horizontal agreements between platform operators (such as price fixing or market division) and vertical agreements with trading partners (such as fixing resale prices). It specifically highlights the risks of using algorithms to facilitate coordinated behavior.

    Regarding abuse of market dominance, the Guidelines outline the factors for determining whether a platform holds a dominant position (such as market share, control capability, user dependence, and entry barriers). They prohibit dominant platforms from engaging in unfair high or low pricing (e.g., charging excessively high commissions), below-cost sales (such as unjustified excessive subsidies), refusal to deal (e.g., delisting products, restricting traffic, blocking accounts), exclusive dealings (“choose one of two”), tying or imposing unreasonable conditions (such as forcing “lowest price on the entire internet” or mandatory collection of unnecessary user data), and discriminatory practices (such as “personalized price discrimination based on big data”).

    The Guidelines also note that concentrations meeting the declaration thresholds must be filed in advance, and platforms should avoid participating in monopoly behaviors encouraged or coordinated by administrative authorities.

    To manage these risks, the Guidelines require platforms to establish a full-chain risk prevention system covering pre-event, ongoing, and post-event compliance management. They emphasize reviewing platform rules and screening algorithms to ensure algorithm transparency and explainability, avoiding “black-box algorithms.” The document also outlines compliance assurance mechanisms, including establishing compliance management bodies and implementing reporting, training, and assessment systems.

    OpenAI fixes ChatGPT’s em-dash overuse issue

    On November 15, OpenAI announced through its official Threads account that it has fixed ChatGPT’s issue of excessively using em dashes. For a long time, overuse of the em dash has been widely regarded as an effective indicator of AI-generated text. CEO Sam Altman confirmed the update in a post on X, calling the fix “a small win, but a nice one.”

    Although em dashes are a perfectly legitimate punctuation mark and have been widely used in serious writing such as literature and academic work, many AI models have struggled to restrain their tendency to overuse them, making the symbol a recent target of widespread criticism. Over the past few months, numerous academic papers, emails, ad copy, and online comments have been criticized for their “ChatGPT-style em dashes.” Even when users explicitly requested “no em dashes” in prompts, ChatGPT would stubbornly use them anyway.

    This update does not mean that ChatGPT will stop using em dashes by default. According to Altman, users need to explicitly request this in their personalized settings under Custom Instructions.

    Europe to begin taxing low-value Chinese e-commerce parcels ahead of schedule

    According to the Financial Times, EU finance ministers reached an agreement on November 13 to accelerate a plan aimed at curbing cheap imports from China. Beginning in early 2026, the EU will impose tariffs on small parcels from e-commerce platforms such as Shein, Temu, and Alibaba, in an effort to protect domestic retailers from unfair competition. This timeline is more than two years earlier than originally planned.

    Under the agreement, the EU will formally abolish the current €150 duty-free threshold for imported goods by mid-2028. Before that, starting in early 2026, a temporary tariff will first be introduced. Two diplomats revealed that this temporary tariff will likely take the form of a fixed fee, as customs systems would otherwise be overwhelmed if required to process the correct tax rate for each individual item.

    The EU’s economics commissioner noted that in 2024, imports of such low-value parcels reached 4.6 billion items, 91% of which came from China. In a letter to national ministers, the EU trade commissioner called this move a crucial step toward ensuring Europe’s competitiveness and providing fair conditions for businesses. The Dutch finance minister similarly stated that the EU needs to regulate the influx of cheap Chinese parcels.

    Back in August of this year, Trump also issued an executive order suspending the U.S. de minimis trade rule entirely. Previously, the U.S. threshold had been raised from $200 to $800 during the Obama administration, making it one of the highest duty-free limits in the world.

    In response to the EU’s actions, China’s ambassador to the EU, Cai Run, warned against the rise of trade politicization and protectionism, calling for dialogue to resolve frictions. China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it hopes the EU will provide Chinese companies with a fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment.

    iOS 26 flaw allows modification of system files to unlock disabled feature

    Recently, researcher Hana Kim disclosed a vulnerability found in iOS 26.2 Beta 1 and earlier versions. By exploiting this flaw, attackers can modify files under the usually protected /private/var/ directory, thereby enabling various Apple-disabled or hidden features.

    According to Hana Kim, the vulnerability is made possible because the iBooks daemon bookassetd possesses elevated write permissions but does not strictly validate target write paths. Meanwhile, the iTunes Store daemon itunesstored can control bookassetd by writing files—yet itunesstored itself can be influenced by files writable by ordinary users.

    To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker can first use standard device management software to write a specially crafted SQLite file instructing itunesstored to pass another specially crafted SQLite file—disguised as an EPUB e-book—to bookassetd. bookassetd then follows the instructions and overwrites other specified system files, effectively achieving sandbox escape.

    Multiple tools such as Misaka and Nugget—used to unlock Apple’s disabled or hidden features—have announced plans to support iOS 26 based on this vulnerability. These tools work by modifying system files through the exploit. Previously, many of their features became unusable after a key exploit, TrollStore, was patched in iOS 18.2. Developer Duy Tran has even demonstrated enabling iPadOS-exclusive multitasking and windowed app features on an iPhone 17 Pro Max using the new vulnerability.

    However, Apple has already patched the flaw in iOS 26.2 Beta 2 and has stopped signing iOS 26.2 Beta 1. Therefore, the vulnerability is available only to existing users who remain on supported versions.

    Huaqiangbei storage product prices surge

    According to Securities Times, Shenzhen’s Huaqiangbei electronics market is experiencing a dramatic surge in storage product prices. Since April this year, prices for memory sticks and SSDs have generally doubled. Some 64GB RAM modules using domestic chips have jumped from just over 1,000 RMB to 4,200 RMB—a more than threefold increase. Vendors report that RAM prices now change several times a day—morning and afternoon prices differ—earning them the nickname “black gold bars.”

    The core driver of this price spike is a global supply-demand imbalance. On the demand side, explosive infrastructure growth in AI data centers has sharply increased the need for high-end memory chips. Industry data shows that a single AI server requires 3 to 8 times more DRAM and NAND than a regular server. On the supply side, to protect profit margins, global memory giants such as SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron are prioritizing production capacity for high-margin AI-focused products like HBM (high-bandwidth memory) and DDR5. They have also announced the discontinuation of DDR4 and other long-standing consumer-focused product lines, prompting an overall supply contraction.

    In Huaqiangbei, although some merchants who stockpiled inventory early have seen their “paper wealth” soar, many others say that despite rising prices, sales are declining. This has created a dilemma of being afraid to buy inventory but also unable to sell it. PC assembly vendors have seen a clear drop in orders, and the cost of assembling a single computer has risen by at least 200 RMB. Smartphones are also affected: recent flagship launches from OPPO and vivo have all seen across-the-board price hikes. Xiaomi executives likewise stated publicly that rising storage costs have far exceeded expectations, significantly widening the price gap between storage tiers—such as the Redmi K90, where the 512GB model is 600 RMB more expensive than the 256GB version.

    Industry analysts widely believe that this “supercycle” in storage is unlikely to reverse in the short term. Some consulting firms predict that the demand and price momentum for DRAM may continue through 2026. Several A-share–listed storage companies have also said that the industry upcycle will positively impact their performance.

    In addition, Reuters, citing insiders, reported that Samsung Electronics raised the prices of some memory chips by as much as 60% compared to September. Research firms predict that Samsung may increase contract prices by 40% to 50% in the fourth quarter, exceeding the industry’s average expectation of 30%. Samsung declined to comment.

    Apple Beijing Huiju store opening soon

    On November 17, Apple updated its official website with the opening details of Apple Beijing Huiju, announcing that the store will open at 10 a.m. on December 6. Located on the first floor of Beijing Huiju at 15 Xinning Street, Daxing District, it will become Beijing’s sixth Apple Store. According to earlier media reports, the store began recruitment in February this year, and construction started in April.

    On Apple’s website, the new store’s slogan is “Gather in Beijing, at Beijing Huiju,” accompanied by a rainbow-colored Apple logo with pixel dots and stripes as background elements. As with previous Apple Store openings, Apple is also offering wallpapers for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch based on this new logo.

    Just Some Rumors to Look At

    • Opera claims that over the past two years, its daily active iOS users (DAU) in Europe have nearly doubled, and in key markets like France, the active user base has grown fivefold during the same period. The company attributes part of this growth to the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires “gatekeeper” platforms such as Apple to allow users to freely choose their default browser.
    • According to The Wall Street Journal, downloads of Flighty—an iOS flight-tracking app—have doubled due to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reducing flights during the government shutdown. The app’s key strength lies in its timely, detailed flight data, and its delay and cancellation alerts often arrive faster than official airline notifications.
    • Under Apple’s newly updated App Store Review Guidelines, the annual percentage rate (APR) for loan apps must not exceed 36% (including all costs and fees), and such apps may not require borrowers to repay the loan in full within 60 days.

      • Apple is planning to abandon its iconic fall keynote model, shifting instead to a more distributed release schedule throughout the year.     OpenAI Releases GPT-5.1 Series Models

    OpenAI released two new models—GPT-5.1 Instant and GPT-5.1 Thinking—on November 13, now available to ChatGPT users.     DJI Releases Osmo Action 6 Action Camera

    The Osmo Action 6 features a 1/1.1-inch 38-megapixel CMOS sensor paired with an ƒ/2.0–ƒ/4.0 variable-aperture lens—DJI’s first use of variable aperture in an action camera. The Osmo Action 6 supports up to 4K 120fps or 1080p 240fps video recording. It also includes a 4K Free Frame mode, allowing users to freely switch between horizontal and vertical video at any time.

    In addition, DJI says the variable-aperture design provides more targeted image performance across different shooting scenarios including strong light, low light, action, and night scenes. In Auto Mode, the camera intelligently adjusts the aperture based on ambient brightness. For night shooting, the Super Night Mode fixes the aperture at ƒ/2.0 to maximize light intake, reduce noise, and enhance shadow detail. In well-lit environments, the Starburst Mode narrows the aperture to ƒ/4.0, creating pronounced starburst effects around point light sources.

    Google Relaxes Restrictions on Installing Unverified Apps

    On November 13, Google announced that it is developing an “Advanced Process” for developers and power users, allowing them to install apps from unverified developers after fully understanding the associated risks. This process will provide clear warnings and incorporate anti-coercion design to prevent users from being pressured—such as through scams—into bypassing security mechanisms, ensuring the final decision remains firmly in the user’s hands.

    The move is seen as a significant concession from Google’s earlier Android policy. Starting next year, Android had planned to fully block the installation of unverified apps, raising concerns among enthusiasts about the potential demise of the sideloading ecosystem.     Aqara Launches FP300 Presence Sensor Overseas

    Aqara has released its first battery-powered indoor presence sensor, the FP300, for overseas markets. The sensor combines PIR with 60 GHz mmWave radar, enabling it to detect both moving and stationary individuals within a range of about 20 feet. It also integrates temperature, humidity, and light sensors, supporting home automation scenarios such as lighting control and environmental adjustments. Powered by two CR2450 coin batteries, the FP300 can last around three years in a Zigbee setup or about two years when using Thread.

    The product is compatible with platforms including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. When connected via Zigbee, users can fine-tune detection range or disable certain sensors in the Aqara app to extend battery life.     Microsoft Confirms Low-Latency Audio Driver for ARM-Based Windows 11 Coming in 2026

    In a blog post published on November 12, Microsoft announced that a new built-in low-latency audio driver will arrive for the Windows on Arm platform in 2026.     1Password Introduces New “Unlock with Device” Feature

    On November 13, 1Password announced a new desktop unlocking mechanism that allows the app to unlock automatically when a Mac or PC is unlocked—no need to enter the master password each time. This system relies on the device’s biometric or password authentication, maintaining end-to-end encryption and the existing security architecture while improving convenience.

    The update offers three security presets:

    • Convenient Mode: 1Password locks and unlocks automatically with the device.
    • Balanced Mode: The app requires a manual unlock the first time every 8 hours; afterward, it unlocks with the device.
    • Strict Mode: The app locks immediately when not in use, and every access requires re-authentication.

    Users can further fine-tune their preferences through “Preview Changes,” such as choosing a device password instead of Touch ID, enabling auto-unlock with the device, or staying signed in until manually logging out.
