    Sony unveils its 2026 Bravia TV lineup

    On May 28, Sony unveiled its Bravia 2026 television lineup, including the second-generation Bravia 9, Bravia 8, and Bravia 7. Among them, the second-generation Bravia 9 and Bravia 7 are the first models to feature Sony’s new True RGB Mini LED backlight technology.

    The True RGB technology uses independent red, green, and blue LED backlight sources. Sony says this enables higher brightness, purer color reproduction, and a wider color volume, while also reducing blooming effects and improving viewing angles. The second-generation Bravia 9 serves as the flagship model, featuring RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro control technology, anti-glare and anti-reflection enhancements, and 100% BT.2020 color gamut coverage. It is also equipped with Beam Tweeter units and AI Voice Zoom 3. Pricing starts at RMB 19,999, with 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch, and 115-inch variants available.

    The second-generation Bravia 7 also supports 100% BT.2020 color gamut coverage and starts at RMB 10,999, with sizes ranging from 50 inches to 98 inches. Meanwhile, the second-generation Bravia 8 adopts a QD-OLED panel and starts at RMB 15,999.

    All Bravia 2026 televisions support Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced, while also offering calibrated viewing modes for Netflix, Prime Video, and Sony Pictures Core. Pre-orders for the new lineup are now open. Source

    Sony also announced the Bravia Theater Trio home theater system, featuring its “360 Spatial Sound Dome 3.0” experience, with a retail price of RMB 14,990.

    The Bravia Theater Trio consists of a center speaker and two independent left and right speakers connected wirelessly. Each left and right speaker houses a 100 mm woofer, a 20 mm high-resolution tweeter, and an 80 mm upward-firing driver. The center speaker includes a high-resolution tweeter and dual woofers. The system supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced, and incorporates Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, co-developed with Sony Pictures, capable of generating up to 24 virtual speakers to create an immersive surround-sound environment.

    In addition, the system supports Sound Field Optimization calibration using a smartphone’s USB-C microphone. Sony also introduced Bravia TV Direct Connect, allowing Bravia televisions to wirelessly connect directly to rear surround speakers and subwoofers without requiring a separate soundbar. The Bravia Theater Trio can further be expanded with Rear 8 and Rear 9 surround speakers, as well as Sub 7, Sub 8, and Sub 9 subwoofers. Source

    Anthropic releases the flagship Claude Opus 4.8 model

    On May 29, Anthropic released its flagship model Claude Opus 4.8, focusing on improvements in AI coding, agent execution, complex reasoning, and knowledge-work capabilities, while further reducing the likelihood of generating unsupported conclusions.

    Anthropic stated that Claude Opus 4.8 is an incremental update. Without changing the existing pricing structure, the company focused on improving coding, agent workflows, and reasoning performance in ways that users can directly notice. According to Anthropic’s evaluations and early testing feedback, the new model demonstrates more stable judgment during complex multi-step tasks, is more willing to ask clarifying questions, can identify its own mistakes, and is more likely to challenge flawed plans when it detects potential issues.

    According to Anthropic’s internal data, in programming scenarios the probability that Opus 4.8 notices defects in its own code but fails to acknowledge or explain them has been reduced to one-quarter of that seen in the previous generation. At the same time, the model is more inclined to explicitly communicate uncertainty, reducing the number of conclusions presented without sufficient evidence.

    On the feature side, claude.ai now includes a reasoning intensity control, allowing users to flexibly balance response speed against output quality. In benchmark testing, Opus 4.8 achieved a score of 69.2% on SWE-Bench Pro. Anthropic claims that the model outperforms GPT-5.5 and Gemini 3.1 Pro across multiple evaluations, although GPT-5.5 continues to maintain an advantage in terminal-based programming benchmarks.

    In addition, the Fast Mode of Opus 4.8 now runs 2.5 times faster than before, while associated costs have been reduced to one-third of previous levels. Pricing remains unchanged: Standard Mode costs $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens, while Fast Mode costs $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens.     Intel launches Arc G-series processors

    On May 28, Intel officially introduced the Arc G-Series processors, designed specifically for handheld gaming devices. The lineup includes two models: the Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme.

    The Arc G-Series is built on the Panther Lake architecture and features a 14-core CPU design consisting of 2 Performance cores, 8 Efficient cores, and 4 Low-Power Efficient cores. The platform also supports LPDDR5X-8533 memory, Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6. On the graphics side, the standard Arc G3 is equipped with the Arc B370 graphics core, while the higher-end Arc G3 Extreme features the more powerful Arc B390 graphics core. Intel says the series has been specifically optimized for handheld gaming scenarios, balancing performance, power efficiency, and battery life.

    At the same time, Intel announced its first wave of hardware partners. Handheld gaming devices powered by the Arc G-Series processors will be launched by manufacturers including Acer, MSI, and OneXPlayer.     Unicode 18.0.0 draft released

    Recently, the Unicode 18.0.0 draft was released, adding 13,047 new characters and bringing the total number of encoded characters to 172,848.

    The Unicode 18.0.0 draft introduces four new writing systems: Chisoi, Proto-Cuneiform (Numerals), Jurchen, and Seal Script. It also adds two new data files, JurchenSources.txt and SealSources.txt, which are used to document metadata sources related to these writing systems. Several Unicode Technical Standards have been updated alongside the draft, including UTS #10 (Unicode Collation Algorithm), UTS #39 (Security Mechanisms), UTS #46 (IDNA Processing), UTS #51 (Emoji Specification), and UTS #58 (Unicode Link Detection).     China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology publishes an updated catalog for hazardous substance control in electrical and electronic products

    On May 28, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the General Administration of Customs, the National Disease Control Administration, and other government agencies, jointly released the Compliance Management Catalog for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (2026 Edition). The updated catalog adds 23 new product categories to the scope of hazardous substance regulation, including smart bands, smartwatches, headphones, and other consumer electronics. The new requirements will take effect on August 1, 2027.

    The newly added categories primarily cover household and similar-use products, emerging information technology products, and products for which consumers place a particularly high value on safety and health attributes.

    The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that it will continue working with relevant agencies to optimize the hazardous substance control framework for electrical and electronic products, strengthen policy communication and implementation oversight, and promote the adoption of hazardous substance reduction and replacement technologies. The goal is to meet growing demand for green consumption while improving product safety and health standards. Source

    MediaTek launches two new Dimensity processors

    On May 27, MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 8550 and Dimensity 7500 series processors.

    The Dimensity 8550 is built on TSMC’s 4nm N4P process and features an all–Cortex-A725 CPU design, consisting of one 3.4 GHz ultra-core, three 3.2 GHz performance cores, and four 2.2 GHz performance cores. Graphics are handled by the Mali-G720 MC8 GPU. On the AI side, the processor upgrades to the NPU 880 and introduces LLM Booster technology, supporting the latest Google Gemini Nano V3 model and broader generative AI ecosystems. Based on the specifications released by MediaTek, the Dimensity 8550 is largely identical to the previously launched Dimensity 8500 in terms of CPU and GPU configuration, with most of the improvements concentrated in AI capabilities.     The Dimensity 7500 is also manufactured on a 4nm process and features four Arm C1 Pro cores running at 2.6 GHz alongside four Arm C1 Nano cores running at 2.0 GHz. Graphics are powered by the Arm Mali-G625 MC2 GPU. The platform supports LPDDR5-6400 memory and dual-channel UFS 3.1 storage, while offering cellular download speeds of up to 5.2 Gbps. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and multiple GNSS positioning systems.

    For imaging, the Dimensity 7500 supports camera sensors up to 200 megapixels and 4K 30fps 10-bit video recording. On the display side, it supports a primary display with a resolution of 1344 × 2800 at 144Hz, as well as a secondary display with a resolution of 1300 × 1200 at 120Hz.

    In terms of AI, the Dimensity 7500 integrates the NPU 850 processor. MediaTek claims AI performance has improved by more than 100% compared to the previous generation. Official figures also show a 5%–9% improvement in power efficiency during everyday usage scenarios and a 4%–7% improvement during gaming. Video transcoding speeds are said to be up to 68% faster, file transfer speeds up to 40% faster, and app switching speeds up to 30% faster. Source

    Xiaohongshu announced as an official broadcaster of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, Central America, and Mexico

    On May 27, China Media Group (CMG) and Xiaohongshu held a strategic partnership signing ceremony in Beijing, announcing that Xiaohongshu will become an authorized broadcaster of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a strategic partner for CMG’s premier live sports coverage.

    According to information released by both parties, aside from CMG’s own platforms and China Mobile along with its Migu services, which already hold licensed rights, Xiaohongshu will become the only public internet platform authorized to provide live broadcasts, delayed broadcasts (including replays), and on-demand content (including short videos and match highlights) for the tournament.

    The 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will expand to 48 teams for the first time and feature a total of 104 matches. Xiaohongshu stated that it will launch a dedicated World Cup channel, allowing users to watch all live matches, replays, and highlight content for free through the Xiaohongshu app, web version, and mobile screen-casting options.     The new Google Health update sparks widespread user dissatisfaction

    According to a report by The Verge on May 27, user complaints increased rapidly after Google replaced Fitbit with the new Google Health app. In response, Google announced a series of improvements and stated that related updates will begin rolling out this week.

    At present, the Today dashboard can display only user-selected health metrics within the upper half of the screen. To address this issue, Google plans to simplify customization for both the Today and Health dashboards, making it easier for users to reorder metrics and add or remove items.

    At the same time, Google Health will restore several missing features and improve day-to-day usability. For example, users will be able to view, create, and log custom food categories and add them to dietary records. The Today and Health tabs will also gain hourly step-goal charts, while a new 24-hour sleep overview will combine primary sleep sessions and nap data into a single view. Source

    Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition officially arrives on macOS

    On May 28, Microsoft officially released Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition for macOS. The macOS version was ported by Feral Interactive and features native support for Apple Silicon chips, offering 4K visuals, remastered music, and optimized graphical performance. The game is now available on Steam for $34.99. Users who already own the Windows version on Steam can download the Mac version at no additional cost.

    The macOS release includes the Lords of the West, Dynasties of India, and Dawn of the Dukes expansions, and supports online multiplayer. However, Microsoft has confirmed that cross-platform multiplayer is not currently available, with online play limited to Mac users only.     • Bloomberg has revealed mockups of a redesigned Siri interface expected for iOS 27. The new Siri is reportedly deeply integrated into the Dynamic Island, allowing users to access a redesigned search and Q&A interface through voice activation, a long press of the power button, or a swipe down from the top of the screen. The interface supports both text and voice input, and can display web search results, local data retrieval results, and AI-generated content. Apple is also reportedly developing a standalone Siri chat application with interaction patterns similar to AI chat tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. In addition, Apple is working on a new “Extensions” framework that would allow third-party AI services to integrate with Siri, Writing Tools, Image Playground, and other Apple Intelligence features. Known testing partners currently include Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude. iOS 27 is also expected to introduce updates to Notification Center, customizable camera app components, AI-powered grammar correction, image expansion and reconstruction features, and more.     • Meta has announced paid subscription tiers for its Meta AI chatbot, called Meta One Plus and Meta One Premium, priced at $7.99 and $19.99 per month respectively. Meta One Plus targets users who frequently utilize AI image generation, video generation, and advanced reasoning features, while Meta One Premium offers higher usage limits for the same capabilities. Testing will begin in June in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia before expanding to additional countries and regions. Meta AI will continue to offer a free tier, although high-frequency usage of image and video generation features will be subject to usage caps. Meta has not disclosed specific limits, only stating that the Premium tier provides significantly higher allowances. Source
    • At the SPARK 2026 Tencent Games Conference, Tencent unveiled its AI-powered game creation platform, code-named “Craft.” The platform reportedly includes a complete AIGC toolchain and more than ten thousand pre-built art assets. Users can generate playable game prototypes simply by entering text descriptions, creating 2D or 3D game concepts and rapidly transforming ideas into functioning game worlds. For example, entering a prompt such as “design a space adventure RPG” can automatically generate environments, characters, and a foundational gameplay framework.     HIMA unveils the new-generation AITO M9

    On May 27, HIMA officially launched the all-new AITO M9, available in both the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Extended Edition. The new model introduces more than 140 new technologies and 40 industry-first innovations. The standard model measures 5285 × 2026 × 1845 mm with a 3125 mm wheelbase, while the Ultimate version measures 5402 × 2026 × 1845 mm with a 3236 mm wheelbase.

    The lineup includes both extended-range and fully electric variants. The powertrain delivers up to 903 horsepower, achieves 0–100 km/h acceleration in as little as 3.99 seconds, offers up to 750 km of pure electric range, and up to 1405 km of combined range for the extended-range version.

    NIO officially launches the executive flagship ES9

    On May 27, NIO officially unveiled the executive flagship SUV ES9, available in three versions: the Executive Luxury Edition starting at RMB 498,000 (or RMB 390,000 with battery subscription), the Executive Signature Edition starting at RMB 558,000 (RMB 450,000 with battery subscription), and the Horizon Special Edition starting at RMB 628,000 (RMB 520,000 with battery subscription). Customers who place orders before July 31, 2026 can enjoy limited-time benefits including a “0 down payment, 5-year financing with 2 years waived” package and five years of complimentary NOP+ access.

    The ES9 measures 5365 mm in length with a 3250 mm wheelbase, adopts a full-domain 900V high-voltage architecture, and features a dual-motor setup combining induction asynchronous and permanent magnet synchronous motors. The system delivers 520 kW peak output and 700 N·m of peak torque, while also offering steer-by-wire, rear-wheel steering, and intelligent terrain modes.

    On the intelligent driving side, the ES9 is built on the Cedar platform and powered by NIO’s self-developed 5nm automotive-grade flagship intelligent driving chip with 546GB/s memory bandwidth. The Cedar AQUILA perception system includes NIO’s in-house “Yangjian” primary control chip, a forward-facing LiDAR capable of detecting objects up to 500 meters away, seven 8MP cameras, and four high-sensitivity surround-view cameras. The vehicle runs the Sky OS TianShu operating system alongside the NWM NIO World Model, supporting point-to-point navigation assistance and intelligent parking.

    The cabin features “Aviation Executive Seats,” LC intelligent privacy dimming windows with over 99.8% light-blocking capability, an 8.8L smart refrigerator, 20-point mechanical foot massage, and an onboard video conferencing system. Two six-seat layouts are offered: center-island and aisle configurations. The front trunk provides 216L of storage space.     RayNeo releases new smart glasses

    On May 27, RayNeo officially unveiled three new smart glasses products at once: the entertainment-focused AR glasses RayNeo GT and GT MAX, as well as the AI photography glasses RayNeo V4. All three products are now available for pre-order, with the first deliveries beginning on May 30.

    RayNeo GT and GT MAX focus on delivering a “next-generation cinema” experience.     NVIDIA announces the retirement of the GeForce Control Panel

    On May 26, NVIDIA released the latest GeForce Game Ready 610.47 WHQL driver update, optimized for games such as 007 First Light and World of Tanks: HEAT, while also officially retiring the NVIDIA Control Panel.

    NVIDIA stated that after updates to the NVIDIA App, all functions from the NVIDIA Control Panel have been modernized and preserved, leaving the old application with no further reason to exist. At the same time, NVIDIA clarified in its announcement that already-installed versions of the NVIDIA Control Panel will remain on users’ systems unless they perform a clean installation. Users who still require the NVIDIA Control Panel can continue downloading it from the Microsoft Store, though NVIDIA will no longer add features, fixes, or make any additional changes. Source

    OM System launches the OM-3 ASTRO astrophotography-focused camera

    The OM System OM-3 ASTRO astrophotography-focused camera officially went on sale on May 27, with the Chinese mainland body-only retail price set at RMB 14,999. At the same time, the body-mount light pollution reduction filter (BMF-LPC01) is priced at RMB 199, while the body-mount soft-focus filter (BMF-SE01) costs RMB 1499.

    Compared to the standard version, this camera has been specially optimized for astrophotography. The infrared-cut filter on the CMOS sensor has been specifically enhanced for H-alpha transmission, achieving up to 100% transmittance. It supports in-camera stacked high-resolution shooting modes, features starry-sky autofocus and live composite modes, and also includes dedicated astronomy and astrophotography custom modes.     The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to receive a brand-new DLC

    On May 27, CDPR announced through social media that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will receive a brand-new DLC expansion titled Song of the Past. The protagonist will once again be Geralt of Rivia. The DLC is being co-developed by CDPR and Fool’s Theory, and is scheduled to launch in 2027 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 platforms. Source

    Toy Story 5 releases its final trailer

    Recently, Pixar officially announced that the animated film Toy Story 5 has been scheduled for simultaneous release in mainland China and North America on June 19. The film will be available in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D, 4DX, ScreenX, D-Box, Fandango, AMC, and Cinemark formats.

    On May 27, Pixar also released the movie’s final trailer. The trailer showcases the intense conflict between traditional toys and digital technology. Bonnie’s obsession with a new tech device known as the “Lily Tablet” causes Woody and the other toys to be nearly forgotten, facing the threat of replacement. In order to defend their mission of “making children happy,” the toys must stand up and confront the frog-shaped intelligent tablet voiced by Greta Lee, along with its army of fifty malfunctioning Buzz Lightyears.     Ferrari Unveils Its First Fully Electric Supercar Luce

    On May 25 local time, Ferrari officially unveiled its first fully electric supercar, the Luce, in Rome. The Luce has a curb weight of 2,260kg and is equipped with four axial-flux permanent magnet synchronous motors derived from the Ferrari F80, featuring independent drive for each wheel. The front motors can reach a maximum speed of 30,000rpm, while the rear motors peak at 25,500rpm. The system delivers a combined maximum output of 772kW and 990Nm of motor torque (11,500Nm wheel torque). Combined with a new VCU control unit, Side Slip Control X system, and eTrac electronic traction control, the Luce accelerates from 0–100km/h in 2.5 seconds and reaches a top speed exceeding 310km/h.

    The Luce uses an 800V structural integrated lithium battery pack co-developed with SK On, containing 15 modules and 210 battery cells.     When retrieving personal communications such as emails, authorities should first ask the data holder to log in and assist voluntarily. If the individual refuses, investigators must obtain approval from municipal-level or higher public security authorities before requesting the data from internet service providers, while informing the user or ensuring witness oversight. The draft emphasizes respect for and protection of citizens’ communication privacy and personal information.

    London iPhone Theft Rings Use Threats to Unbind Apple IDs

    According to The New York Times, smartphone theft in London is increasingly being combined with extortion tactics. More and more victims whose iPhones are stolen in London are discovering that criminal groups smuggle the devices to China and use psychological manipulation and violent threats to coerce victims or their families into removing Apple IDs, allowing the devices to be resold intact at high prices on the second-hand black market.

    Apple Releases App Store 2025 Anti-Fraud Report

    On May 20, Apple published its App Store 2025 Fraud Prevention Report through its first-party Newsroom platform. According to the report, Apple prevented more than $2.2 billion in potentially fraudulent transactions during 2025 alone, bringing the six-year cumulative total to over $11.2 billion. The company also rejected more than 2 million problematic app submissions and blocked over 1.1 billion fraudulent account creation attempts during the year.

    At the account level, Apple disabled 40.4 million customer accounts for fraud and abuse, terminated 193,000 developer accounts, and rejected more than 138,000 developer registration attempts. The company also detected and blocked 28,000 violating apps distributed through pirated app stores. In the past month alone, Apple prevented 2.9 million attempts to illegally install or launch apps through methods designed to bypass the App Store or approved alternative marketplaces.

    On the review side, Apple’s App Review team evaluated more than 9.1 million submissions throughout the year, rejecting over 1.2 million new app submissions and nearly 800,000 updates. Among them, roughly 59,000 used “bait-and-switch” tactics, more than 22,000 contained hidden functionality, 371,000 were identified as spam or copied apps, and 443,000 raised privacy concerns. The TestFlight platform also blocked more than 2.5 million pre-release submissions due to fraud or security issues.

    In search and payment systems, Apple processed more than 1.3 billion ratings and reviews during the year, intercepting nearly 195 million fraudulent submissions. The company also prevented approximately 7,800 deceptive apps and 11,500 misleading apps from appearing in App Store search results and ranking charts respectively.     Microsoft Releases Azure Linux 4.0

The standard establishes comprehensive regulations covering the entire service process for telecom online business platforms, including websites and mobile apps, spanning service promotion, sales, account management, and related service operations.

    In terms of information transparency, the standard emphasizes that online service platforms must provide truthful, accurate, complete, and clearly presented promotional information. It specifically requires that important details such as pricing standards, service content, applicable scope, usage rules, promotional policies, contract durations, cancellation methods, liabilities for breach of contract, and restrictive conditions must all be prominently displayed on the same page. Customer support and consultation portals must also be placed in highly visible locations to allow users one-click access.     WeChat has recently begun limited testing on iOS for a brand-new login method called “Log In With This Device’s Phone Number.” Some users may now see this new option when logging back into their WeChat accounts after signing out, or when logging into WeChat on a device that is not being used for the first time.     Google announces multiple updates across its Google Gemini product lineup

    In the early hours of May 20, Google I/O 2026 officially opened. During the keynote presentation, Sundar Pichai unveiled a wide range of product updates centered around Google Gemini.

    Google announced the launch of the Gemini Omni series, a new family of models focused on video generation and editing, with the first model being Gemini Omni Flash. Omni supports using images, text, video, or audio as reference inputs and enables multi-turn video editing through natural language.     Tencent’s Acquisition of Ximalaya Approved

    On May 12, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation announced that it had approved Tencent Holdings’ acquisition of Ximalaya through a decision with additional restrictive conditions attached.     eBay has officially rejected GameStop’s previously proposed $56 billion unsolicited acquisition offer. Last week, GameStop proposed acquiring eBay at $125 per share, representing a 20% premium over eBay’s current stock price. The proposed deal structure consisted of half cash and half GameStop stock. However, GameStop’s current market capitalization stands at roughly $11 billion — less than a quarter of eBay’s approximately $45 billion valuation.     Linux Exposes Another High-Risk Privilege Escalation Vulnerability, Dirty Frag

    Researchers have disclosed a Linux kernel local privilege escalation exploit chain named Dirty Frag. By combining CVE-2026-43284 and CVE-2026-43500, attackers with low-level privileges — including those operating within containers or virtual machine environments — can reliably obtain root access. Exploit code reportedly leaked within three days of disclosure, and Microsoft stated that it has already observed signs of real-world attack testing activity.

    Both vulnerabilities originate from flaws in Linux kernel page cache handling. CVE-2026-43284 targets the esp4 and esp6 processing paths within IPsec ESP receiving flows, while CVE-2026-43500 targets rxrpc. Researchers stated that the vulnerability belongs to the same family as Dirty Pipe and Copy Fail, but shifts its focus from pipe_buffer structures to the frag member within struct sk_buff. Although exploiting either vulnerability independently offers limited reliability, chaining them together reportedly enables stable privilege escalation across all major Linux distributions, allowing attacks such as SSH compromise, web shell deployment, and container escape scenarios.

    On May 11, the PC version of Forza Motorsport 6, originally scheduled for official release on May 19, was leaked and cracked ahead of launch.
